The full story
The biggest game release of the year for Xbox needed an epic launch – on the scale of a Hollywood blockbuster.
AKQA worked directly with Bungie – the writers and developers of Halo 3 – to devise a three-month-long Alternate Reality Game (ARG) spanning the real and virtual worlds. Code-named ‘Iris’, it challenged people to uncover a series of ways to access exclusive ‘Halo’ content.
The third of five ‘Iris’ phases featured the Halo Sonic Key as the secret means of accessing the ‘Halo’ exclusives.
